ARK works in four stages: 

  1. When you register your details with ARK, each senior manager and employee will receive an email inviting them to share their views, in confidence, on working practices and culture within the organisation. When they log on to the questionnaire site they will see a welcome message from you encouraging them to take part and assuring their confidentiality.

  2. Employees complete the questionnaire, which is designed to assess their day-to-day experiences of work in relation to each of the ten dimensions. Senior managers complete a different questionnaire designed to measure their perceptions of organisational practice and culture.

  3. Once the questionnaire has been completed by a suitable sample of employees and senior managers, you will automatically receive a report of findings. Against each of the ten dimensions you will receive a traffic light score based on the average responses of employees and employers. This can be further broken down by department or occupational group where it does not compromise confidentiality. You will also see a measure of the discrepancy between the perceptions of senior managers and the actual experiences of employees - and this provides an important insight into the effectiveness of two-way communication within your organisation. Finally you will be able to benchmark your organisation’s results against other ARK users.

  4. For each of the ten dimensions the report will provide you with practical guidance, case studies and resources that will help you to sustain existing good practices and to make necessary improvements.
